Before the course, participants will complete questionnaires to identify their prior knowledge and training needs for the subject. Organizers will send proper material for reading and will provide any necessary information about travel and accommodation.
Social competence describes the ability of an individual to effectively use their social skills to communicate with others.
Social skills are the verbal and non-verbal ways that we use in order to communicate and collaborate effectively with other people at personal and professional level.
Teachers are always in a state of communication with people (parents, students, colleagues). Thus, they must have the proper knowledge, skills and attitude to demonstrate a balanced way for dealing with others. Research shows us that teachers who possess social-emotional competencies (SEC) are less likely to
experience burnout because they’re able to work more effectively with their students.
Educators with SEC create warm classroom environments applying the proper classroom management skills. They promote student engagement which leads to academic achievement.
During the program there will be a review of social skills (emotional intelligence, effective communication, team building, conflict management, decision making).
There will be, also, suggestions and techniques for a teacher and a principal to enhance their social skills’ capabilities so he/she can apply them in everyday situations.

Teachers must understand the importance of social skills in everyday school life.
They will be informed about the types of social skills and the impact that they have in their teaching in addition to their academic performance. Students, parents and colleagues need different communication approaches so the participants will be informed about the definitions of social skills. They will be informed about Emotional
Intelligence and how to manage a successful meeting. At this course participants will acquire knowledge and practical skills about communication techniques and effective presentations, tools about team working, team/conflict and meeting management as well. They will learn how to apply stress management techniques in the school environment.
They will improve their skills through exercises and simulations, cooperating and sharing good practices and getting a positive feedback.
